Les mathématiques

This week we will be starting a new unit in Math, Number Relationships. We will be working on this unit over the next four weeks. The first section will be on factors and multiples and as a result it is important for your child to continue practicing multiplication. We will also be focusing on prime and composite numbers.

Over the next few days I will be adding links for the new topics we will be covering in Math.
Here are the two links for the online dictionaries that I was referring to during curriculum night.
www.wordreference.com  and  http://www.pdictionary.com/french/

Friday morning we had our kick-off assembly at school for our Lapathon.
Students were sent home with their sponsor sheets as well, if you have any questions please contact me (or you may contact the school as well). October 11th which is Healthy Commotion/ Walk to School Day will be the day when students participate in the Lapathon event. Keep an eye out for permission slips that will be sent home this week for Walk to School day.

Mercredi, le 11 octobre, there will be no school for students as it is our close-out day.

Science

We are currently exploring "diversity of life" in our Science program.

This week we will be looking at invertebrates and vertebrates, in particular arthropods, animals, plants, fungi, mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, etc.

Here are some sites you can explore at home!

Bienvenue

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year and our Intesive Core French classroom blog. On this blog you will find many links that your child can use at home for French as well as Math and Science. There will be videos, songs, games and interactive websites among many others that are directly linked to the grade six curriculum outcomes. As we start new units I will post sites that are applicable to each topic.

I will also be posting important information, such as homework, important dates as well as upcoming events/reminders. I will also be posting updates on what is happening in our school and our classroom, which will help initiate discussions at home. I look forward to having a great year in grade six and working with you and your child. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me: melissareid@esdnl.ca.
