Motion Geometry

Last Wednesday, we started our new unit in Math - Motion Geometry. We will be looking at transformations: translations, reflections and rotations in the first quadrant of the Cartesian plane.
We started with translations (Keep in mind SL for slide) and we will be moving on to reflections this week.
Here is an introductory video on Motion Geometry.

Coordinate planes

Here are some websites for extra practice and review. It would be a good idea to spend a small amount of time each night.

http://www.funbrain.com/co/index.html What's the point? - Coordinates
http://www.oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/BillyBug/bugcoord.html Fun game with coordinate planes
http://www.math.com/school/subject2/lessons/S2U4L1GL.html Detailed descriptions of coordinate planes! Great site for review or if you were absent.
http://www.primaryresources.co.uk/online/coordinates.swf Coordinates are given and you plot the points (See how many you can get right!)
http://www.primaryresources.co.uk/online/coordinates2.swf Only positive numbers. The X is already marked and you state what the coordinates (ordered pairs) are.

*Some activities involve all 4 quadrants; however, for you it is the first quadrant that is most important.

If you have any questions, write them down and I will help you.

Please ensure that you review the following terms and that you are able to define them:
Coordinate plane, origin, horizontal and vertical axes, ordered pair and quadrant.

le 3 janvier

School re-opens tomorrow, le 3 janvier. (Jour 7)
I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and enjoyed your break from school!

Here are some links for Math on bar graphs and double bar graphs, for review of what we did before Christmas holidays.

We talked about line graphs before Christmas as well; however, we will be looking at them again when we return.  Here are some links for review and practice with line graphs.

We will also learn about the Cartesian Plane once we are finished with line graphs.
